Friday Finds {Pinterest-My Style}

Tomorrow begins my favorite month of the year!

My Pinterest finds this month will lead up to Halloween each week with a different theme.

Lets start off with what I find to be the best part of decorating this time of year {almost as much as cookies} the good ole....

It amazes me when I see all the different variations that people use. Typically carving was the only option and I was finding myself borrowing templates from Martha. Now with Pinterest, I've discovered such wonderful ideas on the mixer {as I like to call it}.

The Pumpkin {Mixer}

A few of my {personal} favorites.

Aren't these great? Potato stamping on the left and a simple sharpie on the right...genius!

I can't wait to start pulling out my own ideas and using some of the great ones from my boards that I have logged. {Oh the simplicity of Pinterest..I don't have to think of what I want to make...I just look at my boards}

Hope you'll follow me here.
Leave me a comment on how you love to decorate your pumpkins! I'd love some new inspiration!

Happy Friday and Happy October! {well almost;)

OED and Me and Reader Discount!

**This is not a compensated post. All opinions are 100% mine based on my experience with the products and seller.**

Well, I don't know about you guys, but over these last few weeks FALL has officially arrived here in Illinois! We had a blip of 80+ degree weather a few weeks ago, but ever since the temperatures have been firmly planted in the 60s and 70s, which I just LOVE! Time to bundle up in that cool weather clothing, and I am just so pleased that little Hannah is regularly sporting a little crocheted cap instead of her usual headbands. Sweet, right?!

Hat 1

I got this adorable Claire Cloche for Hannah before she was born, and I'm just so excited that it is cool enough for her to wear it now. She may or may not have worn it around the house all afternoon because it was just so darn cute. That is, until her dad came home and declared that I was crazy. But that is beside the point.

If you need some cool weather goodies for yourself, you must check out the fun Etsy shop OED & Me here. I've brought this site to your attention before in this post, since I got a few of Hannah's baby photo props from this shop. I couldn't have been happier with them! So soft and snuggly, just like the baby inside of them.

Knitted 8

In addition to hats and baby photo props, the shop is filled with other fall and winter-weather goodies, like scarves,

Picnik collagesc

sweet stuffed animals,

Picnik collagetoy

hats,

Picnik collageha

bags,

and lots more.

While you're there, don't forget to check out Amanda's prints. As an accomplished photographer who has had her work showcased and sold in galleries in Cincinnati, she has both prints and notecards available for purchase.

Great shop, right?! Hannah agrees. :)

Eek! Wreath {A Silhouette Project}

Halloween is just about a month away now, practically right around the corner! It's no surprise that I love to make a  fun wreath to help celebrate the holidays. I still love my wreath from last year for outside, but wanted something new to hang inside the door this year too! Since the wreath was going to be away from 'the elements,' I decided to put my Silhouette SD to work to help create a ribbon and paper wreath.

Here is what I came up with:

I won't bore you with the obvious details since I pretty much just combined a myriad of different wreath styles we've all seen before, but I will highlight the different parts of the wreath and give you a quick run down of what I used to create it.

I grabbed a bunch of supplies to start with, not knowing what I would use and not use. I used the wire ring as the base of the wreath, and began by tying ribbon in varying colors and sizes in knots around about a third of the wire base.
 Next,  I used my Silhouette SD to cut out scalloped circles in varying sizes and two different colors. I found a layout I liked and covered the remaining two-thirds of the wire base. I used hot glue to keep the circles in place.
I decided I needed some more volume on the paper side of the wreath, so I created some scalloped paper flowers to sort of mimic clouds. Then, I used my Silhouette SD to cut out bats in varying sizes. I created a crease down the center to create death and give them the fling illusion, then glued them in an ascending  fashion 'flying' us the side of the wreath.

 As a finishing touch, I added one of my favorite spooky words, eek! (I used this last year in my pumpkin display too.) I picked a fun font from my computer and cut it out from a thick orange cardstock using the Silhouette as well.
And that was is! I tied a big orange bow on the top to hang it with because, come on, who doesn't love a GIANT bow? What do you think?
Have a fun holiday wreath you've been working on? I would LOVE to see it. Upload your version of the paper wreath to our Flickr sight, or leave a comment with your latest and greatest wreath here.

Evolution of a Dresser Top

Dresser tops around our home are ever changing.  So many possibilities and so much fun.

1.) You saw my girl's room in this post and it showed the dresser topped like this...

2.) This is what happened to the dresser when baby girl was a few weeks old...

3.) And just yesterday, I changed the dresser to look like this...

I just had to use some scrabble tiles.  I am sure the word will be changed frequently but for now "sisters" seemed perfect.  I could change it weekly with the current sight word my daughter is learning at school.  Hmmm...just thinking out loud.

I used a couple of the little birdies from one of my very first Lemon Tree projects you saw here.

My sister gave me this cool mirrored tray awhile back.  I finally got around to painting it white and it now holds my five-year-old's favorite pieces of jewelry and a fresh flower in a tiny vase.

I love it.  But I gotta be honest, my favorite was #2 (the one with the changing pad) because that represents a baby and I love me some babies.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Tuesday!
