Holiday Home {Pinterest Inspired}

While we casually stroll through my Christmas home, just know I get overjoyed with excitement as I go through old decorations, do some revamping and then of course add some new decorations to the mix.

Luckily, Patrice and I craft a lot together, so this inspiration comes from her. This is so fun and it adds some spunk to the outside decor!

I love finding old things and putting them together for something a little fun....like this Frosty hat! Check it out here.

Of course shopping for women is always easy, but what do you buy someone that has everything, or that says "oh, I don't need anything." The many items on these lists are sure to fulfill any stocking hung with care.

Thanks again to Pinterest for helping me find these great resources!

Pinterest Paper Trees

 I started pinning holiday ideas pretty early this year. Pinterest really got me in the mood for Christmas decorating for sure! One of my very first holiday pins was also one of the first things I made this season.

My inspiration was this gorgeous paper tree...

 {image via}
 I loved the gold newspapers they were using, but went with something I already had in stock, old book pages. I simply glued my pages around a branch from the yard. All of the supplies were free and it couldn't have been easier!
Here was my result...
Not quite a full or perfect, but just right for me! I have tried out a few other Pinterest holiday projects this year, you can see some of them here on my family blog...Happy December and official decorating season!

And don't forget to stop back by tomorrow and link up your Pinterest Projects!!

Pinterest Inspired Rag Ball Ornaments

Welcome to our week of Pinterest!! Have you made anything this month with Pinterest as your source of inspiration? Be sure to stop back by on Thursday and link it up at our Pinterest Linky Party!!

I had made up my mind that, due to a crazy November and December, I was not going to make any new holiday decorations this year. Then I saw these and that was completely out the window. I am crazy over the colors, fabrics and textures, and already had some in my stash, so there was no reason not to start on this as soon as humanly possible.

Pint 5

I pulled out my scrap stash and was thrilled that I had some neutral linen and white burlap already in thin strips. Perfect.

Pint 3Pint 6

I grabbed some plastic ornaments in neutral colors, thinking that if the colors peeked out a but from underneath the scraps that it would be less noticeable than with green or red ornaments.

Pint 4

I wrapped a thin strip of fabric around each ball, layering them on top of on another and securing each end with hot glue. This was a really fast moving project since hot glue dries almost immediately.

Pint 1

As I worked I removed an ornament from the pedestal, covered it in fabric, and then put it back into the pedestal. I decided not to cover every ornament in the end because I like the mix of shabby chic rag balls and the glam of the glass ornaments. What do you think?

Pint 6

This project is so easy and a great way to dress up plain ornaments. What colors would you use?

Don't you just love Pinterest?! Me too! If you want to follow my boards, you can find me here.

Have a great week!!

Fall-tography {Pinterest Inspired}

Photography has always been a number one priority in my families life. My fiance works as a photographer and gives such fabulous inspiration on a daily basis. I on the other hand am simply amateur, but REALLY enjoy being behind {and in front} of the camera.

The fabulous change in the weather makes for the perfect combo of cloudy and colorful days to capture just the right shots.

I found a couple of shots I wanted to share via Pinterest and couple from Tim and I that I had pinned to my {ispy with my lil camera board}! Enjoy!

{source}

I fell in love with this shot. We were engaged last October and I hope to have a fall wedding as well.. keeping this photo inspiration on the back burner just in case!

{source}

I love this photo of Tim and I. This was my regular turning the camera around and hoping for the best! PS! Gotta love Instagram! {follow me @ j_johnson}

{source}

Wow! This always impresses me; I enjoy my friends and admire their hobbies {especially when I receive jars of honey at my door}. What a great time of year to capture the daily lives of the ever so, hard-working bee.

I would love to see what inspires you to snap a shot. Leave me a comment or let me know your Instagram user name! I'd love to follow you!

Happy Friday LTC!

White Monogram Canvas {Pinterest Inspired}

 It's no surprise that we all get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest these days. I mean, how could we not? Lately, I have been seeing a ton of white canvas projects and have been dying to make my own. My favorite white canvas 'pin-spiration' to date has got to be this one:

It originated from a European store called 'Not on the High Street.' They have gorgeous personalized canvases with gorgeously high price tags to match. I figured I could attempt to make my own on the cheap, and while the outcome isn't quite as perfect as theirs, it was within my price-range. And I have to say, I am fairly pleased with the results anyway!
(Although I'll admit, it is a little rough around the edges and potentially slightly crooked?)
I purchased my supplies at Hobby Lobby, and had to sort through many letter options and sizes to find just the right combo. I settled on chipboard letters instead of wood. One reason being the wooden ones were simply HUGE or just completely the wrong font. Plus, the chipboard ones came in at a bargain. I had to purchase the M and P separately, but the small letters were packaged together in the scrapbooking section. Add a 50% off sale price and they came in at a steal!
The one real problem I ran into was that there was no ampersand to be found, in any font or material. So, I had to get creative there. I decided to use foam board. I stenciled out two ampersands from a print I made with my computer, then cut them with an exacto-knife. They were definitely a little rough around the edges to say the least.
Luckily, a few coats of white paint hides the imperfections quite nicely. So, after hot-gluing my letters to the canvas, I painted till my heart was content.
Like I said, my version isn't perfect, but it was fun to make.  I do wish I had spent a little time leveling my letters to make straighter. Ohwell, maybe you can do that is you feel inspired to give one a go yourself!
I have been wanting to create a sweet statement for our house lately. There is something about growing our family together that just makes me fall more in love with my husband everyday. It's nice to think about that every time I look at the wall.

Thanks Pinterest for the inspiration!

Happy Wednesday!
