Dining Room Update

Many of you won't remember a much early post I had about my small house. I posted here a few months ago about how I added personal touches to my small house to make it feel more like home. Well, since then many, many spaces in my home have slowly been transformed into a completely new rooms. My new favorite in the house is my dining room.

It started out like this...

And now looks like this...

To transform the space I simply...

1) Introduced the farm table. It is an antique piece my husband bought from a local shop. AKA the best birthday present ever! It was a steal too. You might not being seeing it now in its final form, as we plan to replace the casters and clean it up a bit. I hope to retain as much of the original charm as possible.

2) Upholstered and painted white our old wooden Ikea chairs. This cost less than $10.00 per chair, and made quite a difference I think. (You can see the process I used here.)

3) Added a few finishing touches...
...place settings

...new drapes

...and some artwork.

And that was it. It was a cheap and easy fix. It was inspired by the farm table, and pulled together with items I already had around the house. The art work and curtains were stolen from my old living room, seen here. The chairs were simply re-purposed. Maybe this will inspire you to freshen up an old room too. Anyone have any ideas?

I'll be linking to these parties this week. Happy Thursday!

I adore that table! You might be able to talk me into having a proper dining table if we could find something that wonderful!

Fun to watch the progress here. Love the wall color and that table is perfect. I like the contrast with the chandelier. The window frames are a fun unexpected element too.
Nice going.

This room is amazing! I love the wall color. Do you happen to remember the name of it? We have an older home too and our dining room needs help. This gave me some great ideas!

What a fun room! Love the layering of the windows and your table is just the right amount of chippy. Visiting from Leigh's party. :-)

The room transformation is gorgeous. I'm in love with the table AND the new chairs! The added monogrammed pieces complete the room. Don't change a thing..but I know you all to well for that to happen..I can't wait to see what you do next!

I really like the chairs. I'd be tempted to paint the table legs white too, but I would definitely leave the table top as is.

LOVE the colours in that table! And the character, too. That was a sweet find. I hope my hubby gets me a gift like that one day. :)

a question on your monogram plates you did. Sooo cute by the way. Can you eat off of them and use them?

For those asking, there is mixed review about the product being food safe. The company itself claims it is food safe, and I know it is dishwasher safe. In the end, you have to make the decision that is best for you! Sorry if that is vague!
