birdie shirt
Hi, my name is Tiffany and it may appear that I have somewhat of a bird obsession. I was responsible for the birdie nest toy and decoration and now here I am with a card and a shirt. However, in reality I am not a fan of real birds...only paper, fabric, and stuffed ones. Ahhh, the truth has set me free...
So, I had made this birdie card awhile back and thought it might look even better on a shirt...
So, while my Mom was visiting at one point, I decided we should transform a long-sleeved cream colored shirt that Avery had in her closet.
I found some scrap fabric lying around that was perfect for a birdie. I cut the birdie out and my Mom did the sewing again. I used my trusty iron-on transfer paper for the bird legs and the birdie label. We used a scrap of muslin to make the label and a button I found in my scrap stash for the eye. I actually did sew the eye on. I didn't have my sewing machine at this point so my skills were quite rusty. I am happy to say that I could now do this shirt all by myself!
Next, I pulled out some cream lace that I had in my scrap stash. I asked my Mom to turn the sleeves into 3/4 length and add the lace trim. It turned out exactly as I had hoped...
It's my favorite. It's as if it was made just for her. Oh, wait, I guess it was...

I love that bird. What a great idea and so simple. I might have to give that a go. You found you via Today's Creative Blog and I love your blog. Will be a regular visitor.
Hi! I came over through TCB and wanted to say what cool ideas you all have. Just browsing down the left sidebar, I was amazed at the fun stuff you have to offer. Most tutorials just make me feel overwhelmed or frustrated, but your tutorials actually made me want to try to do what you did and I felt like I might actually be able to pull it off!! Thanks for sharing the cute birdy shirt; it looks adorable on your daughter! :) I'll be back soon for more!
That's one of my favorite photos of Avery...kids have the cutest feet! These birdie shirts should be on Etsy. Your birdie design is too cute. :o)

Absolutely love your website. Cannot wait to decorate a clipboard and now make the birdie shirt. What did you use to spell the word "birdie"? Just want to make sure it doesn't wash away when it's cleaned. Good luck to all of you ~ fabulous ideas. Blessings~~Christine.
I'm a bird lover myself. :) Thanks for sharing your "Toot"
I love that you used a shirt Avery already had - nothing like a new shirt for free! I appliqued a shirt that had a stain on the front - it was a perfect way to give an old shirt new life.
Love It! Following from Blue Cricket McLinky!

I guess I am going to have to go out and buy some white/light colored shirts to do this cute craft. I would repurpose some of the ones in our house.....but we never get just *one* little stain. My Munchkins shirt would be covered with a flock of little birdies. :-)
I think my favorite part is that you wrote birdie on the bottom. I LOVE that detail. Stop on by and link up at the carnival Make it Wear it if you are interested.
