Fancy Weathered Frame

After discovering Americana's Weathered Wood, I have been completely inspired. I have always loved the look of anything Shabby Chic, and this stuff makes it more than easy to create. I took an old, slightly unsightly frame, a couple of my favorite paint colors, Weathered Wood, ribbon and some sparkle...
To make this!To use the Weathered Wood, you simply apply a base coat of acrylic paint...
Then paint on an even layer of the Weathered Wood...Then another light coat of your top paint choice. As you are painting, the top layer begins to crackle, giving your frame an awesome texture.

Now to finish it up, I wanted to add a little 'chic' touch. I simply hot glued a sparkle-ly button onto a complimentary ribbon choice, and hot glued both to the frame.

    I tried the Weathered Wood Crackling Medium over the summer, and I like it much better than the DecoArt brand- it's a lot easier being able to let it dry all the way first. I'm been proclaiming my love for this brand on my own blog recently too! I've really fallen for the look of crackling- frames, signs, you name it! How cool that somebody else likes it just as much :) Fantastic frame- I love the luxurious ribbon!

    I didn't know such a product existed! I learned that elmer's glue does the exact same thing (use it instead of the weathered wood stuff) and it gives great crackle-ies!

    Simply?!? (weathered wood, I mean) Well, I'm crackle-challenged. Actually, crackle-impaired. I've tried a lot of products but it's always a mess. People don't believe me but it's true. So I really admire your little frame. And the embellishments make it just darling!
