It didn't take long to decide that I wanted something hanging from the ceiling to draw the eye out from the TV. It took one quick trip to Michaels and $7.00 to create these candle pendants.
I purchased silver floral wire, 2 $.99 votives, and 3m hooks to create this look. I ended up using some picture wire I already had instead, so that I could save even more when I discovered that it worked just as well.
I simply wound the wire ends around one another to create a closed circle that fit tightly around the lip of the votive.
Next, I simply wound some wire around 2 opposite side of the original wire cirle to suspend the votive. I secured the suspended parts with a dab of hot glue for added security.
To hang the pendants from the ceiling I first secured clear 3M hooks to the ceiling, then hung a piece of wire from them to attach to the pendants.
While it is hard to see the wire pendants in photographs, the candles make a big impact when they are lit. I not sure if you will find these in any decor magazines, but they are perfect for our family and the feel of our home. We love their understated elegance. Also, I couldn't be more pleased with how quick and easy they were to create. It was a cheap project that I completed in less than 20 minutes. And even better, with the 3M hooks they come of super easily as soon as I change my mind about them! Perfect!
Check back in the next couple of weeks to see some of the living room antiques we've been working on as well! In the mean time, stop by these parties that I'll be linking too, and see what everyone else has been creating this week.

ReplyDeleteVery pretty...but something that would just be begging to be ripped from the ceiling by my kiddos. Or swung, the glass smashing against the wall...or better yet, the TV, lol.
ReplyDeleteSome day, when they are a bit older and have some common sense in their heads...rather than their current sense of adventure.
It never occured to me to put those 3M hooks on the ceiling. I love it!!
