Fake It Until You Make It

In the land of DIY, at least the land of DIY at my house, there are many halfway-finished projects. To be honest, I always have a half a dozen projects going at the same time. There is just something that stops me from finishing, ranging a lack of materials, to a lack of motivation, to a lack of time, to a new idea that suddenly becomes more urgent. Contributing to Lemon Tree Creations actually forces me to complete some of these projects. (It also fills my head with new ideas for projects to be half-completed, but that is another story.)

Anyway, I recently took a few different projects that are in various stages of completion and combined them to give me some sense of short-term satisfaction. I thought to myself, "These things are cool. Even if they will be even better in their final state, I might as well enjoy their temporary state now, right?" Right. So that is what I did.

I also should warn you that they are super easy, with no glue, paint or anything like that involved.

Project #1.) Table Centerpiece: Plop, plop, plop and you're done.

I know that I showed you this Centerpiece Tray before.

Well, since I showed you this Clothesline Photo Display last week, you know that the tray has found a new home.

It turns out that, though beautiful, the large tray was just too big to remain on our table all of the time. But last week, a friend gave me these beautiful flowers. And they were getting a little lost sitting on the table by themselves.

So I plopped down a placemat.

Then I plopped down a tray, which will one day have a part in a photo gallery in my home.

Then I re-introduced the flowers, along with a random(ish) candleholder that was sitting on the counter.

Voila! Centerpiece that can be torn down as quickly as it was put up.

Project #2.) Craft Room Corner: Too Pretty For the Closet.

IMG_5611.JPG

I recently found this great old suitcase stand. It is old and dirty and needs some love, but I think it's cool. It will most definitely be making a re-appearance here on LTC in it's final form at some point.

A few weeks ago I covered a canvas in this incredible kelly green floral fabric. It didn't look right in it's intended location, so I stashed it away to await further inspiration.

(You see where I'm going with this, right?)

Take suitcase stand, put in lonely bare corner of craft room, set fabric-covered canvas on top, adorn with pretty vintage bottles that are awaiting an etsy listing.

All of these items were stashed in the closet, waiting for me to decide what to do with them. But in their temporary state, they added a pretty and inspiring little display into a blah corner.

I have others that I'll have to share at a later date. Is this post another partially finished project? Sigh.

Anything in your stash that can be put to good use now? Get it out!! It might inspire you enough to get that project finished, or at least make you happy in the meantime.

Have a great weekend, and I'll see you on Monday!!

I have gotten all my half done projects together in one place but they're still just waiting, patiently on little old me...

I'm inspired so maybe I'll but the laptop away and get crackin'!

I have pulled half done projects together before for a quick display. Glad I am not the only. Although yours looks much better than what I have done in the past :)

I adore that kelly green canvas! Such a creative (and temporary) way to use it in your daily decorations.

I definitely have 43.2 unfinished projects laying around the house, also.
