Post-It Note Covers

To do.. today, tomorrow, (should have done yesterday..geez). I'm always making lists or leaving myself a little Post-it somewhere around the house or at school. Post-its are so handy, I keep them practically in every nook and cranny. I do notice they are a little drab though..that bland vomit yellow color.

So with a little revamping I came up with a cute cover to protect them and make them a little more stylish!

All you need is some scrapbook paper, thread or ribbon, some mini brads, Post-its (3X3 size) and viola!

Step 1. Cut your card stock/scrapbook paper 8" X 3"

Step 2. Place your Post-it pad on your card stock and peel of the backing and glue it to the card stock to hold it into place. You will want to fold up the edges and score it with your fingers.

Step 3. Cut 2 3/4" circles out of card stock to use for securing the cover together along with use of the ribbon and mini brads.

Step 5. Attach the ribbon by spinning it around the brads creating a figure eight motion between the two.

In no time these covers can be made with hardly any supplies. Obviously they're great for yourself, and you can stash one in your purse, glove compartment, desk drawer. But why stop there..these would make great party favors: Thank You's, teacher gifts, stocking stuffers...endless!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a fantastic weekend. I'll be linking up to these great parties.

Stenciled Table Runner

I fell in love with this polka dot fabric I found at a thrift store and to my surprise how perfect could it be for just my little bitty dining room table!

But you know me; I can't leave well enough alone. And rightfully so..take a look!!

Voila! With the Cutting Edge's Large Paisley Wall Art Stencil I was able to bring out a unique and inviting style to my now "not so shabby" little nook! {which I simply can't take my eyes off of!!]

The first thing I did was make sure my fabric was ironed and exactly the size I wanted.
Next, I secured my Cutting Edge Stencil to the top of the fabric using duct/electrical tape. It's always a great idea to place some cardboard underneath your project to prevent any paint that might seep through as well.

Lastly, the most simplest part: I simply rolled over my stencil with some Navy fabric paint and that was that! An elegant, "store bought" looking table runner!! I just love how the polka dots show through the navy!

I'm sure by now with all of the exclamation points you can tell I am overly joyed with the way this turned out!

Some other fun projects I've been wanting to try are on magnetic boards, windows and on ceramics like this...

Yep..wouldn't that be a great conversation piece?

Thanks for stopping by and check back next Wednesday for a Cutting Edge Stencil Giveaway!

I'll be linking up to these inspiring parties!

Play it Again!

If you love thriftiness as much I, you will appreciate this effortless craft. This simple record bowl just takes a few moments of your time and a little patience (for the cooling process).

Of course, I was perusing the thrift stores (my weekend routine) when I found myself aimlessly browsing through these awesome record sleeves admiring the artworks on the front and disturbed from the fact no one was using them any longer. So, I purchased 20 or so (for .25, since you really can't find a better bargain).

Have a look at the record labels:

The supplies you will need for this project are items you already have on hand; two glass bowls of different sizes, oven mitts, a cookie sheet, and a drinking glass.

ps.. don't forget the record!

Next, you will want to preheat your oven to 200 like so:

Place your record on the small bowl, which is on top of the drinking glass on the cooking sheet.

I thought it was so neat to watch the record begin to melt. Depending on the amount of "curve-age" you are looking for in your bowl you can let in drop all the way or pull it out of the oven as soon as it begins to melt.

Be careful taking it out, USE your oven mitt of course and place the larger bowl on top of the small bowl to help form the final product!

Once the bowl has cooled just separate the two and viola! A new vintage piece added to your collection (or to someone elses)! Aren't these fun?

Have a great weekend! Be sure to check LTC next week as we approach our one year anniversary!

It's a "Felt" Friday

You may remember my Paper Tree a while back. Felt is so versatile and such an easy throw together project when you are looking for a last minute table decoration idea. So I decided to use my old paper tree project and turn it into this cute Valentine Tree!

All you need is tons of felt, some pins, and of course some styrofoam. (A wreath would be super cute as well)

Depending on the size of your tree (mine is just a little guy) I cut my circles approx. 2". Folding them in half and once more, then simply putting the pin in the end and placing them in no particular order on the tree.

Just keep going...

And going...you are almost finished!

Voila! Add your tiny cute tree to the rest of your festive decor. Place a felt rosette inside serving piece, topped along with some awesome houndstooth frames, which I found for super cheap and of course added some felt to them.

Ever feel like a "Felt" Friday?

Happy Valentine's Day!

Slow Cooker Apple Butter

It's always fun to make little homemade gifts for people. I especially like edible ones!

This one is a super easy Apple Butter recipe (which I found somewhere online). And the best part is that it's all done in a SLOW COOKER!

The simple steps are written below.

Once the ingredients are added to the cooker..you are pretty much a master at the whole cooking part and that's exactly how I like to cook.

So now for the fun decorating of the jars!

I had some old fabric, some cute ribbon, fur looking twigs and buttons!

Before!

After!

Cut fabric in to small squares depending on the size of your jar lid. Next I hot glued the ribbon to the rings of the jars. Add and embellishment to the top if you like.

This batch of Apple Butter made 24 4oz. jars! That's a lot of gifts! Add to some hot biscuits, toast, scones, or just eat out of the jar when no one is looking!

Have a great Friday!

My Top-Picks!

When I was asked to be a part of this blog, I thought "Oh how fun, this should be neat." I had no idea these ladies were going to be so much fun!! I get excited every morning to log-on and see what they have posted.

Here is a look back at some of my favorite picks from some of my favorite girls!

Erin on Mondays:

Mondays, what a way to start off the week! Erin has definitely led the weeks off with some amazing projects. One of my favorites; simple, yet stylish: The Pearl Adorned Paper Blossom

Tiffany on Tuesdays:

I adore Tiffany's style. Anyone that can run a sewing machine..well, practically steals my heart. I fell in love with her Photo Placemats. I tried them out my style (hot glue) let's just say...there is no match.

Patrice on Thursdays:

This girl amazes me. I have the privilege to craft and work with her on a daily basis. One of my many favorites is the Stenciled Accent Wall. Her living room completed a huge transformation in less than a few hours. Shew, completely jealous!

Amy on Fridays:

I was so excited to see all of the cute parties Amy was throwing. However, I was even more thrilled to see this Book Page Necklace one Friday in June. Man that girl is that jack of all trades. I love that necklace..it looks so cute on her!

Just a reminder to check out some of our old post that are still so fabulous! Have a safe and Happy New Year.
